It’s not you.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s a society that puts so much emphasis on body image.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s diet culture that surrounds us every single day. From advertising to food packaging.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s a society that focuses more on the external than the internal.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s a society that teaches us to numb and bypass with food, alcohol, drugs, and tv.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s a society that doesn’t value softness. It doesn’t value self love. It doesn’t value the inner you.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s exercise culture telling you to push through the pain. Telling you to burn more calories.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s diet culture telling you what your body needs instead of teaching us how to listen to our bodies so we can determine what we need.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s diet culture leading you to believe that there is one perfect diet and if it’s not working you aren’t doing enough.

It’s not you that’s broken. It’s exercise culture telling you that if this workout doesn’t get you to your goals it’s because you didn’t work hard enough.

What if you trusted that the best thing for your body is to just listen to it. What if, instead of over correcting how we eat and move to fit into society’s standards we just gave the finger to society and did what we want?

You are not the problem. Your body isn’t broken, it doesn’t need fixing.
